A bit tired

Just wanted to apologize to the friends (and foes) who regularly visit this blog and recently have seen fewer updates. I am just tired and sometimes after work, there is no energy left in me to write. Additionally, some not very good news from back home, contributes to my lack of energy to write.

Meanwhile, please feel free to initiate any discussion you feel might be worth discussing in this post.

Conditional respect?

Iranian-Canadian photojournalist Zahra Kazemi died in Iranian custody on July 11, 2003, almost three weeks after she was arrested for taking pictures outside a prison during a student protest in Tehran. This was a clear indication of the brutality of the regime in Iran. Although Kazemi was not the first victim of the regime and will not be the last, her death resulted in the outrage of human rights activists and groups such as Amnesty International. On the other hand, it provided an opportunity for those who themselves have caused death and destruction to many people in their own backyard. Zionists and pro-Israeli groups who only pick what suits them, used this opportunity to condemn the regime in Iran, not because of their "care" for human rights but for their political agendas against the regime in Iran. In another word, criminals of one kind had found an opportunity to condemn the criminal of another kind.

The support from the pro-Israeli groups for Kazemi did not last long however. The same groups had respects for Kazemi only until they realized that she too was sympathetic to the Palestinian struggle for freedom from their Zionist occupiers. Here is what happened: An exhibition featuring the work of Zahra Kazemi was been taken down, following "complaints" it was too sympathetic to the Palestinian uprising.

Fortunately, contrary to the wishes of the pro-Israeli groups and after criticizing the authorities for censorship over the decision to take down the exhibition, a Jewish group has asked for restoration of the exhibition in the name of freedom of speech.

Cheney is talking about 'bad people'

WASHINGTON - Vice-President Dick Cheney, reacting to a growing chorus of calls to close the U.S. prison at Guantanamo Bay where terrorism suspects are held, says there are no present plans to do so.

"The important thing here to understand is that the people that are at Guantanamo are bad people," he said.

Bad people? Is this the definition of justice in Cheney's books? Cheney is talking about bad people? What does he think he himself is? An angel?

Remember, except a few, none of the detainees at Guantanamo Bay is charged yet for being "bad people".

A "terrorist sympathizer" Major General?

Here and in some other blogs, well rightwing blogs, I have been often accused of being a terrorist sympathizer because I regularly write against invasion of Iraq by the American army. I have been called many names, so many names, but since the accusers were mostly bunch of idiots, I never took them seriously and in many cases I just had fun humiliating them by exposing their brain non-functionalities. As far as I remember, I have never condoned violence and as a result I have never expressed support to the armed resistance to the Anglo-American occupation of Iraq. But the accusations kept coming and coming.

Well, may be the same idiots can now start using the same accusations against the senior US army General who recently stated that the 'Good and honest' Iraqis fighting US forces.

Major General Joseph Taluto said he could understand why some ordinary people would take up arms against the US military because "they're offended by our presence".

In an interview with Gulf News, he said: "If a good, honest person feels having all these Humvees driving on the road, having us moving people out of the way, having us patrol the streets, having car bombs going off, you can understand how they could [want to fight us]."

Let's wait and see if this army chief will receive the same accusations as I've always been "generously" given.

The U.S. government has failed to conduct a truly independent investigation into the abuses at Guantanamo, Abu Ghraib, and other detention centers. Only enlisted soldiers and a few officers have been prosecuted, while those who designed and authorized a government policy of torture, inhuman or degrading treatment have not been held to account.

Respond to Amnesty's call. Take action.

I thought to bring this documentary to your attention to show how crook the Vice president of the United States is. Yeah, I know, nothing new, but just watch it. It gives you even better and more clasified ideas about this man.
